
Part Renaissance woman and part “ham”, Basmah has been performing onstage in various forms for more than twenty years. She has studied ballroom and swing dancing, acting, musical theater, and both classical and modern singing and instrumental music. This diverse background adds excitement and depth to her performances. A soloist at area festivals, Basmah’s joy and love of dance is captured in her vivacious routines.
Basmah studied Egyptian style with Amara and El Naar Haninah of Gaithersburg for
five years and found immense enjoyment as a dancer, but within Sahara’s Treasure
she has demonstrated great strength in choreography. Basmah is committed to creating
pieces celebrating traditional Middle Eastern dance as well as designing belly dance
fusion pieces ranging from Theme on a Samba to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Her imaginative
enthusiasm and love for the stage breathes a unique and eye-
